Utility Warehouse is the UK’s only genuine multiservice provider. Founded in 2002 by Telecom Plus, the company offers multiple home services that are bundled into one, monthly bill to remove some of the time and hassle of coordinating and paying for utilities. The company currently serves over 650,000 customers across the UK.
Offerings
To date, Utility Warehouse offers energy (electricity and gas), broadband, home and mobile telephone, home insurance options, and a cashback card.
Savings
Utility Warehouse prioritises savings for its customers. The company promises that new customers who sign up for Utility Warehouse’s services will receive up to £200 towards any early termination fees from their current services providers.
What’s more, customers can choose to bundle services, earning them even more savings. Customers who sign up for The Mobile One bundle will receive a 10% discount on home phone and broadband services, resulting in savings up to £96 a year. Customers who sign up for The Energy One bundle will receive energy will always be cheaper than Ofgem’s Fair Price, resulting in savings up to £70 a year. Customers who sign up for The Everything One bundle will receive a 10% discount on home phone and broadband services, as well as the company’s Peace of Mind Promise, resulting in savings up to £185 a year.
The cashback card also provides customers with more opportunities to save. Customers can earn up to 7% cash back on in-store and online purchases with over 2,000 participating retailers, including Sainsbury’s, Boots, Halfords, and M&S. Any savings accrued with your UW cashback card will be automatically deducted from your monthly bill.
Partner Programme
In addition to securing savings for customers, Utility Warehouse provides opportunities for people to supplement their income or replace lost income in the wake of furloughs and layoffs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of utilising more traditional marketing tactics, such as print or television ads, UW advertises entirely by word-of-mouth through its network of UW Partners.
The UW Partner Programme allows Partners – independent contractors for UW – to earn commission for signing up new customers. Partners set their own hours and earnings goals, giving them flexibility and agency. Partners receive training, ongoing support, and marketing materials to ensure success, and can take on greater responsibility (such as managing their own team of Partners) should they want to grow in their roles. There are currently 45,000 UW Partners.
The UW Foundation
In 2020, Utility Warehouse founded The UW Foundation, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to giving back. The causes The UW Foundation supports are representative of issues that are important to UW’s customers, employees, and Partners.
Currently, The UW Foundation is partnered with Carbon Forest to plant 100,000 native trees in the UK to absorb 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. When customers sign up for The Everything One bundle, they can expect a tree planted in their name.
The UW Foundation is also supporting Ocean Generation, an organisation that aims to decrease plastic and pollution levels in oceans. The foundation will match donations raised by UW employees and Partners for the organisation.
In addition to these environmental organisations, The UW Foundation is also matching donations raised for disadvantaged communities in London, Bolton and Bournemouth.
